NEPTS PCAs – Important Campaign Update!

UNISON’s “Put Our Banding Right” campaign has been working for over a year to secure fair recognition for NEPTS Patient Care Assistants (PCAs). After months of negotiations, we are now asking you to vote on the proposed back pay deal.

Background

Eighteen months ago, UNISON launched the “Put Our Banding Right” campaign with clear objectives:

  • To secure the re-banding of NEPTS Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) from Band 2 to Band 3.
  • To achieve a fair back pay settlement recognising the work already performed.

UNISON submitted a formal re-banding and back pay claim to EMAS in December 2023. Throughout this process, UNISON EMAS branch have gathered extensive evidence to demonstrate that PCAs have regularly been performing Band 3 duties while being paid at Band 2 rates.

What UNISON Has Already Secured

✅ Re-banding for NEPTS PCAs effective from 1 April 2025.
✅
New Job Descriptions clearly outlining duties for both Band 2 and Band 3 NEPTS PCAs.
✅
Clear distinctionbetween Band 2 and Band 3 duties with new Job Descriptions.
