Joint statement on the Rostering Consultation provided by Tim Slater (EMAS Deputy Director of Operations), and UNISON EMAS and GMB@EMAS
“Consultation is about ensuring staff views play a role in shaping organisational change.
We’re grateful to all staff who have given feedback during the rota review consultation for A&E Divisions, which started in October 2025. Due to your input, we have been able to work together on a proposed change to principle 1 that we believe meets staff expectations.
What we heard: Choice and flexibility is important.
What we did: On Wednesday 19th November, Trade Union leads from UNISON and GMB and EMAS senior operations leaders met to discuss the feedback received from EMAS staff about principle 1. Together, we reached an understanding on a number of changes to the principle.
The steps we have taken: We have introduced two options to enable teams to choose whether or not to build leave into their rotas.
Information about the changes to principle 1, and the options available to all staff, is provided in Enews and on Insite. The revisions will be formally included within the EMAS principles upon closure of the current consultation, subject to any further feedback.”
