UNISON EMAS: Rostering Principles Consultation — Your Voice, Your Future

📣 UNISON EMAS: Rostering Principles Consultation — Your Voice, Your Future

🗓️ Stage 1: Principles Consultation

Focus: New EMAS rostering principles
Who: All EMAS staff working on a rota
When: 30 June – 14 August 2025 (45 days)

🔍 These Principles Are Not Finalised — This Is Your Chance to Shape Them

EMAS is proposing a new set of rostering principles that will affect how rotas are built across the service. These principles are part of a formal consultation — not a final decision.

That means:
👉 If you support the changes — say so.
👉 If you have concerns or objections — raise them now.
👉 If you’re unsure how they affect you — ask questions.

Once implemented, these principles will form the foundation for every future rota, impacting:

  • Shift patterns
  • Night shift limits
  • Annual leave and TOIL
  • Education and CPD time
  • Relief and flexible working
  • Your work/life balance

That’s why it’s essential that you engage with this consultation. These decisions are not yet made — but once they are, they will guide how we all work.

📘 What to Read

A full breakdown of the proposed principles is detailed in Appendix A of the consultation document. This outlines:

  • The rationale behind each proposal
  • How it would work in practice
  • The impact on your day-to-day working life

📩 Appendix A was shared in the email from the EMAS Communications Team. If you need help accessing it, speak to your line manager or local UNISON rep.

🚨 Attend Your Division’s Launch Briefing
